3mm Straight Flight of ‘The Skewed House’ | Presentation Sheets
In the Skewed House, this staircase is an arresting piece of design, striking for its apparent impossibility. Formed from just 3mm-thick stainless steel sheet, it bends to create the risers and treads, achieving a floating, paper-thin presence.
The stair appears impossibly light, yet it’s reinforced through concealed anchor bolts and custom stainless steel studs that connect it to glass supports. These elements reduce the sheet’s effective span and stiffen the flight without adding bulk.
The result is a staircase that looks like a floating ribbon of steel, with razor-sharp edges softened by detailing and craftsmanship. More than a circulation element, it’s an installation in itself, an experiment in how engineering precision can shape space with elegance and clarity.
