The Travelling Model
The Travelling Model emerged from a provocation during the preparation for +91 Residences | Traveling Exhibition on 100 Contemporary Residences from India. The organisers mentioned that the model might become part of a travelling showcase and would therefore need to be robust, transportable, and not reliant on a glass case.
We chose to take that suggestion both literally and metaphorically.
Instead of designing a conventional static model, we began to imagine it as an object made for movement. This led to the idea of housing the model within a plywood suitcase-like assembly. When closed, it reads as a compact artefact ready for transit. When opened, it unfolds into a layered narrative of the project, revealing the model, drawings, and accompanying details in a calibrated sequence.
Crafted using plywood, forex sheets, printed drawings, enamel paint, and wire elements, the piece balances durability with tactile richness. It is built to travel, assemble, and engage, extending architectural representation beyond the building and into the realm of display and dialogue.
